Emília is a professor in the School of Life Sciences. She is fascinated primarily by the evolution of complex and multimodal communication, and is deeply commited to social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Her son, Gabriel Martins, plays the cello, her husband, Mike, is also a scientist, and her extended family is Brazilian. emilia.martins@asu.edu 

Piyumika is an Assistant Teaching Professor working on our zebrafish project. She is interested in understanding how small changes in the physical environment induce major shifts in behavioral strategies. She integrates field and lab experiments (primarily on fish), and is currently working on our Sensory Resilience & Climate Change project. psuriyam@asu.edu.
